DESCRIPTION: |
|
NEW 2 OLD -
221 is a two component, 100% solids, moisture
insensitive, high modulus structural epoxy adhesive for
bonding new concrete to old concrete and as a general
purpose binder for patching and grouting. |
|
USES: |
| Positive bonding of new
"plastic" concrete to old concrete or steel.
Positive binding for
epoxy mortars used in patching horizontal surfaces.
Grout for dowel bars,
rebars and anchor bolts in concrete for load bearing
applications. |
|
ADVANTAGES: |
| Easy 2:1 mix ratio.
Moisture insensitive.
High strength.
100% solids, conforms to
VOC regulations.
Conforms to ASTM C-881,
Class B&C, Types I, II, IV, & V.
Conforms to Georgia D.O.T., Section 886, Type II |

SURFACE
PREPARATION: |
| Surface must be clean
and free of any dust oil, grease, laitance, curing
compounds or any other contaminants. This should be
achieved by sand blasting, water blasting or some other
mechanical means. New concrete surfaces may be acid
etched with muriatic acid and rinsed thoroughly. The
surface must be dry or damp, and must be free of
standing water. |
|
MIXING
AND APPLICATION: |
| Pre-mix each component
before combining. Mix thoroughly 2 parts component A
with 1 part component B by volume. Mix with spatula or
low speed drill with a mixing paddle. Be sure to scrape
the sides and bottom of the container during the mixing
process. Do NOT mix more than may be used in 30 minutes.
For bonding new concrete
to old concrete, apply mixed material to surface by
brush, roller or spray. Pour new concrete while epoxy is
still tacky. If NEW 2 OLD - 221 loses its tackiness
before concrete is poured, re-coat with fresh epoxy.
Epoxy mortar is produced
by adding up to three parts of clean, dry, bagged sand
by volume. Prime the surface with neat NEW 2 OLD - 221
and apply mortar with a trowel.
For grouting dowel bars,
anchors, etc., clean all dust out of hole and grout with
neat NEW 2 OLD - 221. |
|
LIMITATIONS: |
| Do NOT apply when
temperature is below 40°F.
Do NOT apply to latex
modified mortar or concrete. |
|

UP: |
| Clean tools and
equipment immediately with a suitable solvent such as
xylene or lacquer thinner. |
