DESCRIPTION: |
|
SUPERIOR OIL STOP
PRIMER is a high solids, two component epoxy primer
designed to be compatible with petroleum based oil and
greases. In many instances, petroleum can penetrate the
surface of concrete floors to the extent that the oil
may not be removed by surface cleaning. If untreated,
this oil may migrate back to the surface, causing
delamination. SUPERIOR OIL STOP PRIMER mixes with the
oil in the surface, penetrating deeply to tie up and
lock in contamination, leaving a sound surface for
coatings and toppings. |
|
USES: |
|
Primer for epoxy
coatings and toppings to be applied to grease
contaminated concrete floors. |
|
ADVANTAGES: |
| Bonds through petroleum
based grease and oil.
No need to chip out
surface.
Preserves concrete.
High solids.
Easy-to-use 1:1 by
volume mix ratio. |
|
SURFACE
PREPARATION: |
| As much of the oil
should be removed as possible. Concrete should be
thoroughly degreased by solvent washing. Create a
profile by wire brushing, scarifying or abrasive blast.
All loose or soft concrete must be chipped out. |
|
MIXING
AND APPLICATION: |
|
Mix 1 volume of part A
with 1 volume of part B. Mix thoroughly, being sure to
scrape the sides and bottom with a strong mixing stick
or a slow-speed drill with a paint propeller attachment.
Apply mixed material by 3/8 inch nap roller or stiff
bristle brush at 200-300 square feet per gallon.
Coverage will depend upon the texture of the surface.
Primer may be top coated in 8-10 hours. For best
results, allow the primer to cure for 16-24 hours before
top coating. |
|
LIMITATIONS: |
| Do NOT apply when
temperature is below 55°F.
Do NOT apply to latex
modified mortar or concrete.
Do NOT topcoat before 8
hours of cure or bleeding of the primer into the topcoat
may occur.
Before using SUPERIOR
OIL STOP PRIMER, an appropriate test must be made on the
particular surface to determine suitability. Do NOT use
over surfaces contaminated with vegetable oil, animal
fats or synthetic oil. |
|
