DESCRIPTION: |

SUPERIOR EPOXY PRIMER
171 is a two component, low viscosity, 100% solids
epoxy. SUPERIOR EPOXY PRIMER 171 will penetrate into
concrete, sealing the surface to improve adhesion of
epoxy toppings and coatings. SUPERIOR EPOXY PRIMER 171
will reduce outgassing of porous concrete to help
produce pinhole free topcoats. |
|
USES: |
| Primer for porous
concrete surfaces.
Tack coat for easier
application of aggregate filled, trowel applied epoxy
toppings.
Primer for polyester and
vinyl ester toppings. |
|
ADVANTAGES: |
| 100% solids, conforms
to VOC regulations.
Low viscosity.
Good penetration into
concrete.
Easy 1:1 volume mix
ratio. |
|
SURFACE
PREPARATION: |
| Surface must be clean,
sound, dry and free of all foreign materials such as
oils, grease, loose paint, dust and laitance. This may
be accomplished by sand blasting or scarifying followed
by an air blast to remove dust and debris from the
application area. New concrete surfaces should be etched
with a 5% muriatic acid solution or other concrete
etchants, rinsed thoroughly and allowed to dry. |
|
MIXING
AND APPLICATION: |
|
Mix 1 volume of part A
with 1 volume of part B. Mix thoroughly, being sure to
scrape the sides and bottom with a strong mixing stick
or a slow-speed drill with a paint propeller attachment.
Do not mix more than can be applied in 20 minutes. Apply
mixed material by brush, roller or squeegee at 150 to
200 square feet per gallon (8-10 mils). The coverage
will depend upon texture of surface. Apply toppings
before primer becomes tack-free, approximately 2-3 hours
at 72°F. |
|
LIMITATIONS: |
| Do NOT apply when
temperature is below 50°F.
Do NOT apply to latex
modified mortar or concrete. |
|
CLEAN
UP: |
| Clean tools and
equipment immediately with a suitable solvent such as
xylene or lacquer thinner. |
